At the core of St. Mark’s Music Ministry is a volunteer choir consisting of dedicated members, currently six sopranos, five altos, one tenor and four basses. Members of the choir provide musical leadership at the 10 AM Sunday and special services throughout the year.
Choir Rehearsals take place from 7:30 to 9:00 PM on Thursday evenings and at 9:15 AM on Sunday mornings. Choir membership is open to anyone who has a love of singing and can regularly attend rehearsals.
The choir sings from the first Sunday after Labor Day through Trinity Sunday. During the summer months a pick-up choir of six to ten singers, provides musical leadership and special music at the 10 AM service. Musical repertoire, hymnody, anthems, and service music encompass a wide range of musical styles.
St. Mark’s is blessed with a fine library of choral music and a dedicated rehearsal space. Our organ, a 14 rank pipe instrument, was built by the Leonard A. Carlson Company and dedicated on January 20, 1974. In 2014 Heritage Pipe Organs completely rebuilt the console to 21st century standards installing Peterson solid switching, and an Allen Ensemble MIDI. Other remedial work was also performed on the instrument.
